All About

The making of an Ananite

When we talk about student life at Anan International, we talk about the heart and soul of our school community. Being an Ananite is an intentional, dynamic, and thriving way of life required of our students across grades. Their opportunity for growth consists of, and is supported by, the House System, co-curricular and weekend activities, assisted study programmes, and counselling.

Given that not all learning takes place in the classroom, we commit to and value learning that takes place all over our campus.  This involves academic and extra-curricular activities, as well as social initiatives that happen in the course of life at school; each area providing students an opportunity to nurture one’s sense of self and leadership capabilities and to explore areas of interest or talent.

Our school culture relies on student, parent and teacher involvement, inclusion and interest. We cherish new experiences and provide opportunities to our students to pursue learning beyond the four walls of the classroom. We challenge them to get outside their comfort zone, encouraging them to engage in thoughtful conversations and to be respectful in their relationships.

Co-curricular Activities

Every activity in school life plays a significant role in the development of students. Besides academics, Co-curricular activities form an essential part of school life and help in enhancing the learning process of students. Anan gives a lot of impetus to co-curricular activities for the space they provide learners for informal learning, team-building and to evolve into a wholesome personality. Co-Curricular activities are compulsory activities that every student should participate in. These activities are seamlessly woven into, and balanced with, the academic curriculum. They include athletics, cultural events, competitions and celebrations, creative arts, sports, dance, music, yoga and martial arts.

Co-curricular activities are meant to instill key 21st century skills, intellectual rigour, moral values, desirable personality traits and character appeal in learners. Students get to imbibe a healthy sense of tolerance and civic values through national and traditional events from different faiths including Gandhi Jayanti, Independence Day, Republic Day, as well as Diwali, Eid, Pongal, Onam, Raksha Bandhan, Christmas and many others. Extended activities in school help them sharpen their communication skills, expression skills, public speaking, participation, and sense of belongingness. Activities like athletics, gymnastics, and yoga are beneficial for students’ physical fitness as well as mental health and they help relieve academic stress. Co-curricular activities are designed in groups so that students can participate along with their classmates, thereby helping them develop leadership skills, team integrity, and coordination skills.

Counselling and Mentoring

We believe that young people thrive with support from positive and trusted role-models to help them on their life-journey. They need advice and guidance, along with access to new experiences. They need someone to listen to and understand them, someone who respects their identity, gives them a positive view of themselves, and who encourages them to develop, grow and learn new things. Anan has a sensitive team of mentors, along with a dedicated Student Counsellor, to help students traverse the journey through childhood and beyond.
