5 easy ways to get active after school

If you are a teen with a busy schedule, it can be quite challenging to find time to be active. Keeping active doesn’t mean hitting the gym or taking expensive Zumba classes. We’ve compiled 5 easy ways to get active after school.

  1. Join a sports club

Besides providing a good workout, playing sports can also benefit you socially and psychologically.

Sports are not only a great way to stay active but can also help you with your academics!

The many benefits of sports include building self-esteem, developing interpersonal skills, team-building skills, social skills, etc.

  1. Play with your pet

Coming home to a brisk pet entails several benefits, from being active to fostering responsibility and building a strong bond with your furry friend.

Hugging, cuddling, or playing with your pet every day right after school stimulates feel-good hormones.

  1. Do some gardening

Gardening is a great way to learn science and sustainable practices. It increases your level of physical activity while pulling weeds, planting seeds, watering, and maintaining gardens.

Further, tending a garden imparts responsibility, creates environmental stewards, and teaches patience.

  1. Try a new recipe

Head to the kitchen and try a new recipe. Nothing compares to the feeling of accomplishment and self-sufficiency. More importantly, you are likely to be less picky about eating food when you prepare it yourself.

  1. Make some music

Come up with a melody or lyric of your own. Have your parents join you as you play music or sing a song.

You may also consider taking your friends on an evening picnic where you can play music together. Group play helps develop teamwork skills.

Spending your after-school time on activities you love will make you healthier and happier.
